Reflection

Reflecting on Assignment #1 has opened my eyes to not only the positives of technology, but the negatives as well. Many of my sources focus on the negative effects of technology such as cyber bullying, less face-to-face communication, and the lack of thinking that comes with technology. In my first article, “Technology and Society” by Karehka, she says, “Technology by itself is not harmful to the society, but the way society uses technology to achieve specific goals is what results into negative impacts of technology on the society.” This quote stood out to me because it is like anything else in life, nothing is truly bad unless someone makes it bad. Technology can be extremely beneficial to society, but the way society uses technology is what can make it negative. Unit 2 Freewrites

This free write was my favorite because pitching the idea of starting a book club in Syracuse, NY opened my eyes to the different type of education children in poverty are exposed to. I went out of my comfort zone to pitch this idea and it paid off.

Unit 2 Reflection

While choosing what to write about for Assignment #2, I thought about a topic I’d like to read about if I were the audience. I wrote my piece hoping that a majority of the population can relate to it, especially those reading my writing, college students. Most people have iPhones and have opinions on the update. For my Unit 2 Project I decided to take a survey asking students if they liked the updates the iPhone provided, or disliked it. My writing discusses the outcome of the survey. I began my writing by explaining the concept of change by saying “Every individual handles change differently. Regardless of whether or not the change is a major change, or minor, some will embrace it while others struggle.
